I really enjoyed this one, and especially liked getting to know Evan throughout. I wish we'd gotten more insight into Yoshi a a character, too, but I get that everything was essentially viewed through Evan's lens, so it makes sense that we didn't. I'm also very interested to see if Evan's dreams come back up, since aside from his nightmares about things that have already happened, the only dreams we've seen are nigh-prophetic; it makes me wonder if this is foreshadowing future developments for him... Or maybe I just read too much scifi/fantasy. ;)What made this a 4-star for me, rather than a 5, was that it felt a bit choppy in spots... e.g., when they first find out about the cities being hit, and a state trooper told them "We've been attacked. Same people too." - the same people as what? In the context, it seems like it's most likely to mean the same people who were behind the 9/11 bombing, but a few more dots to connect there would have made it flow better for me. Similar slight leaps to conclusions happen throughout, and they certainly weren't enough to pull me out of the story, but they were jarring nonetheless. Really, though, I think that's something that is to pretty much be expected with a new author's first book of a new series, and I honestly look forward to seeing where she takes the series from here!

Unthinkable Merinda Brayfield 9781490509563 Books Reviews
Loved this story! I literally couldn't put it down and finished the book in 2 days highly recommended. Great story and suspense. Props to Merinda for an excellent first novel.
I found this book to be a nice break from what I usually read. It's well written and I could sit down and enjoy the characters and the way Brayfield wrote her setting and places. It's a face paced and there was a deep element of "who can I trust" which worked well for myself as a reader. An excellent first book.
This book was so hard to finish, not because it wasn't good but because I didn't want to get to the end and quit reading! There were many unexpected twists but not a single one felt forced or unnatural. Every situation, all the characters' reactions and all the emotion felt very real. Grace was a great addition to the duo of Evan and Yoshi and I also really liked Damien's character. Shannon was also a nice character to meet at the end. Evan is so well written it's hard to imagine he isn't a real guy that you would meet on the street someday. All in all this book was great, I can't wait until a sequel comes out! Even though the book ends naturally, I still want to hear more about these characters because I really genuinely care what happens to them.
This end of the world story was not at all what I was expecting when I first started reading but it turned out even better than I anticipated!
